Antique English Carved Oak Two-Panel Blanket Chest

An antique English carved oak two-panel chest, early 18th century has beautiful rich wood with the interesting scars of use. The pegged, moritse-and-tenon case features a rectangular, two-panel lid with cotter pin hinges opening to a large interior. The two-panel façade has a lunette-carved frieze and the chest rises on stile legs.

Please note due to its age and hard use it shows its age proudly.  The lid panels have a few shrinkage cracks; missing interior candle box; one cotter pin hinge is broken and has been replaced with an iron, butt hinge; latch on lid is broken; no key; repair to front, right leg where it connects to front, base molding and another repair to base molding on left side panel; front, right panel is loose and with a slight gap along the top; right side panel with a slight gap along top; some former pest damage (worming); other scattered surface wear, marks/stains, and imperfections.  We think these all add up to its appeal.
