Our Favorite Summer Bundt Cake Recipes

Gugelhupf: Dutch Bundt Cake Platter & Cake Form Handmade There has been a baking frenzy during the past few months as we search for traditional comfort foods that transport us back to a simpler time and place. To help unwind and de-stress nouveau and experienced bakers have been scouring the internet for the best banana bread, sourdough bread, cinnamon rolls... and mug cakes!

Our taste bud yearnings traveled across the ocean to Europe and the many pâtisseries and bäckerei - and especially a European bundt cake. Bundt cakes aren't only delicious, their scalloped edges and elegant curves and crevices make them a beautiful cake to serve guests or to gift.

Believed to have originated in Austria, bundt cakes take their name from the traditional bundt pan, shaped like a large donut, also called a gugelhupf or kugelhopf. Popular bundt cake recipes from Germany, Holland and France are made in the distinctive pan with the center hollow and are popular in America (remember the bundt cake scene in My Big Fat Greek Wedding?).

Legend says the bundt cake shape is inspired by the Austrian alps... or a Turkish sultan's turban!

Here are a few of our favorite summer bundt cake recipes, sure to please the bakers and the eaters in your family.
